Knives--I love 'em. Here are some of the edges that have come across my bench recently.

This Damascus beauty has roman short-sword influences and has braided ribbon and wire at the handle.

Celtic Clover Sword

If these could talk, they'd tell lots of stories. From a family collection. The top "knife" is actually a repurposed file!

Pre-1900's Knives

The style of this knife is spot-on, though at 27 degree edge, I'd prefer something more narrow.

Kershaw Titanium Flipper

This is a common chef's knife taken to 18 degrees on the EdgePro. Sliced paper into ribbons when it was done.

Chef's Knife

Damascus steel in manufacture. Note the mother of pearl grip. At 27 degrees grind angle, this became a functional beast.

Celtic War Sword

Common knife to south Asia. I see many of these blades. The edge makes sharpening difficult without convex stones.

Kukri Knife

I do enjoy sharpening a good chef knife. I wrap the edge in tape to protect from swarf while sharpening.

Chef Knife

This sword is hidden in the hilt of a cane and is becoming more common. I've sharpened several of these recently.

Cane Sword

I vacuum seal all knives because they become safer to handle, seals oil in the pores of the steel, and assures no grit or grime!

Knife Wrapping

Probably the most common knife damage I see. Forces a reprofile, but the results are amazing!

Sad Broken Tip

A pair of very expensive blades of custom manufacture. The steel was superb and took a keen edge.

Custom Fixed-Blade Knives

Pre-Reprofiling of a broken SOG fixed blade knife. Don't use them to pry open cans! The results after the reprofiling were amazing.

I don't often see pre-1960s shears come across my bench, but these were special 1920's scissors that sharpened beautifully.

Early 1900 Scissors

This customer wanted sharper butter knives! I milled new edges into them with a Dremel. Strange and wonderful!

Sharp Butter Knife

Commonly known as an herb rocker. Has a one-sided bevel with a convex edge.

Ulu Knife

Designed to sever nerves in laboratory animals, this required enhanced magnification and 3000-6000 grit to achieve greatness.
